Wild New Year's Eve

Because we are crazy party animals, this is what we do on New Year's Eve:

Well, we did stop at the neighbor's house briefly, where they actually had a table of snacks, mixed drinks, and people with whom to mingle...but then we came home to do this.  And sew.  And watch more H2O.  And stuff.  Albin is out at a friend's house tonight, playing Magic and other games.  He's going to get a ride home from his friend for the first time ever.  Good news for all, because the party ends at 1 am, and I didn't think I could stay awake that long.  Karl could, but now he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to.

We made peppermint bark for the first time today.  (Actually, Albin made it.)  We have lots more candy canes to use up!  Any ideas?  We also created a pan of gluten-free twix-type bars that we brought to the party, but the gluten free shortbread turned into crumbs under the caramel.  It was still edible (and stuck to your teeth!), but I wonder if regular shortbread would hold it's shape a little better.

Albin bought two more games for his DS3, and helped me with our last day of chicken care.  (Such nice chickens!)  We got almost a dozen eggs every day.  We had omelets for dinner last night, and our cast iron pan was seasoned enough that the eggs didn't really stick at all.  It's been a long time since we've had real honest to goodness omelets in this house.
