Big kids still like trains

Amazing that today's teenagers are still interested in toy trains. Guess there's something universal about toy trains. When there's something that moves with a motor, Albin and I like to say, "it goes around". So true...and yet it just doesn't capture the essence.

The transformer is rated at about 12 volts, 275 watts. Yeah, that's 20 amps of DC current which are available. I can make a whole bunch of sparks if you do the wrong thing...and yet is pretty robust. (It's a kids' toy, after all!)

That appears to have inspired Elise. She was looking up "light bulb" on wikipedia, and I knew something was up when she asked "what's an inert gas" and then "what's vitrite". Last night we borrowed Albin's electronics stuff from his class last year, and she set up a string of LEDs on his breadboard.
