The End

Elise had her last day of school on Friday.  She brought home a pile of beautiful paintings and work this week.  After school let out early, we headed to the park for a picnic.  The kids had a marvelous time with water balloons--and there was always a long line at the water fountain to fill them up.  We took her picture with her teacher, too.  The year at Waldorf was an interesting experience, and she made good friends by the end of the year, but we are all so ready for her to be home again.  We are just not a school family, at least not right now!  Thinking ahead to the fall, she already has so many things she could do that we will be plenty busy--but just not getting up at 7 am to do it!  Besides, there seems to be a trend in the older homeschoolers to not attend school until they take classes at the local community college...and that seems like a good idea to me.

Elise and I went with friends to a local barn dance last night.  We saw two homeschooling and one Waldorf family we knew there.  Elise had a great time dancing.  I had a great time reading my book, listening to the music, and walking around the grounds.  It was a perfect summer night.  The little white farmhouse, old red barn, irises and lilacs blooming in the gardens, rolling green hillsides with cows in the next pasture...sigh!

We are building a swing in the front yard, too.  It's taller than we anticipated, but it was really the only place we could put it.  Should be good times, though--as long as the kids don't launch themselves into the street.
