Whew, it's been the quietest New Year's on record for us, I think. We had supper snacks with our Regular Monday friends, then the kids spent the night there. Karl and I went home about 9:30, and were too tired to stop at the coffeehouse party, and Karl had had a particularly bad day at work. Sigh. We watched a pbs documentary on Netflix about Greece and fell asleep before midnight.

On New Year's, we went sledding for a bit at Indian Lake County Park with friends, made our traditional New Year's pretzels, then our neighbors invited us over for Wii and card games. It ws a lovely day!

Today we went to an open swim and Elise had her Science Sisters gathering. Albin didn't want to swim, so he listened to his ipod (Metallica, I think). He has similar musical tastes with his dad! Speaking of music, this is my new favorite thing: Pandora. It's like a radio where you put in an artist or song that you like, and it finds similar music to play. You can "seed" more than one station, so I've started ones with Mac Davis, Riders in the Sky, Blind Lemon Johnson, and the Irish Rovers, and sit back to listen to the mix. It's fabulous! The other neat thing I've found online lately is Old Time Radio Network. They have lots of shows that you can listen to online, including some of my favorites, George Burns and Gracie Allen and Fibber McGee and Molly.

We found shoes for Elise to wear to Greece, and a great bluegrass record at the local thrift store. A pretty good day, and there's still late night knit at the Sow's Ear : ). The kids need to finish their thank you notes (Elise is writing her last one right now), and we have to do the shopping for cooking group tomorrow. We're just making peanut sauce and white chocolate cranberry cookies--an easy day! (Elise doesn't like the white chocolate, makes her queasy, she says.)
